Swinton Square has teamed up with their charity partner of the year Kidscan to bike 249 miles in two days!
As part of national bike week, Swinton Square’s charity partner Kidscan has organised “Tour de Kidscan” a virtual bike ride to raise vital funds into research for childhood cancer treatments. Anyone can take part, from their own garage or lounge if they want to or carry out a bike ride in a local park at your leisure.
On the 4th an 5th June the Swinton Square Team and willing retailers, businesses and partners on site, will get on their bikes at the centre to conduct a virtual tour of Kidscan research centres across the country. Their challenge is to ride over 249 miles in two days.
Local residents and shoppers can also get involved, by slipping on their cycling shorts and becoming part of team Swinton Square virtually. You can register to carry out a bike ride at any time and anywhere and contribute towards the 249 miles! It’s simple to register and join the team here. The team needs all the help it can get!
It is possible to donate to the challenge on the Swinton Team page too.
This is the first of many fundraising events to support Swinton Square’s charity of the year, which was announced in April of this year.
Chris Doidge, Centre Manager commented: “It’s a great challenge and I’m looking forward to biking away with colleagues at the centre to support this worthwhile cause. Kidscan are locally based and do a fantastic job in researching for new treatments to support poorly children with cancer. We have received support from lots of people including Swinton Pool Hall who have donated the exercise bikes for the task. Let’s all get on our bikes!”
The team have set a target of £1,000 and hope that lots of local people and groups can get on their bike and help out.
