Meet The Little Sewing Shop
Swinton is packed with independent retailers, so we’ve been chatting to the people behind the businesses to find out more…
This week, we caught up with The Little Sewing Shop…
When did The Little Sewing Shop open?
I opened my sewing shop in June 2017.
What made you set up your own business?
I’ve been sewing since I was just five years old. I used to cut up my Mum’s clothes to make clothes for my dolls. I’ve always been creative when it comes to fashion.
I made myself a coat when I was in school and somebody stole it, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! I have always sewn for myself and for my children when they were smaller, and I also made my curtains for my home. This almost escalated into becoming a full-time job once word spread via word of mouth.
What is your favourite made to order piece you have made?
My favourite made to order piece I have created was a christening gown from a wedding dress.
What’s it like to work at Swinton Square?
I love working on the Square, I’ve gotten to know lots of people and my shop is really busy.
The Little Sewing Shop is open 9:00am to 4:30pm Tuesday to Saturday. Janet also sells wool knitting patterns, knitting needles and haberdashery.
